MacBook Pro OLED panels ready to go into mass production next month, new report says

Apple’s long-rumored OLED MacBook Pro models may finally be moving closer to reality. According to new supply-chain reports, Samsung Display is preparing to begin mass production of OLED panels for future MacBook Pro models as early as next month.

The reports suggest Samsung has successfully improved production yields for its advanced 8.6-generation OLED panels to over 90%, clearing one of the major hurdles that previously raised concerns about delays.

Apple is reportedly planning to use these OLED displays in upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models expected to arrive in late 2026 or early 2027. The new laptops are also rumored to feature Apple’s next-generation M6 chips alongside a major design refresh.

The shift to OLED technology is expected to bring several improvements over the current mini-LED MacBook Pro displays, including deeper blacks, better contrast, richer colors, thinner panels, and improved battery efficiency.

Some reports also claim Apple could introduce touchscreen functionality for future OLED MacBook Pro models, something that has been rumored for years but never officially confirmed.

Earlier reports hinted that Apple’s OLED MacBook plans may have faced delays due to memory shortages and supply chain issues. However, the latest developments indicate that production timelines are now back on track.

Apple has not officially announced OLED MacBook Pro models yet, but the increasing number of supply-chain leaks strongly suggests that the company is preparing for one of the biggest MacBook display upgrades in years.
