iQOO’s next-generation flagship smartphone, the iQOO 16, is reportedly already under development, and early leaks have started revealing some major hardware upgrades expected for the upcoming device.
According to recent reports, the iQOO 16 could arrive earlier than expected, with development said to be progressing “rapidly” alongside the upcoming OnePlus 16. The smartphone is expected to launch later this year in China before expanding to global markets.
Leaks suggest the iQOO 16 may feature Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, making it one of the first Android flagships powered by the next-generation processor. The chip is rumored to be built using advanced 2nm technology for improved performance and power efficiency.
The device is also tipped to sport a 2K flat OLED display with an ultra-high refresh rate that could reach 165Hz or even 185Hz, targeting gamers and power users. Reports claim iQOO is testing Samsung’s latest display materials for better brightness and efficiency.
Camera upgrades are expected as well. The iQOO 16 may feature a large 50MP primary sensor with a 1/1.3-inch sensor size alongside a periscope telephoto camera. Earlier leaks also hinted that iQOO tested a 200MP main camera before reportedly shifting focus toward a larger 50MP sensor for improved image quality.
Battery life could be another major highlight of the smartphone. Multiple leaks suggest the iQOO 16 may pack a huge battery ranging between 8,000mAh and 8,500mAh, potentially making it one of the largest batteries in a flagship smartphone.
The iQOO 16 has also reportedly appeared in the GSMA IMEI database, indicating that testing and certification processes are already underway.
While iQOO has not officially confirmed the device or its specifications, the increasing number of leaks suggests that the flagship launch may not be too far away.
