NEW DELHI: State-run BSNL today said it will offer broadband at a monthly fixed charge of Rs 99 in rural areas.
Under the BBG Rural USOF 99 plan, customers will get a download speed of up to 2 Mbps and is allowed 400 MB free usage per month, BSNL said in a statement.
Under another plan, BBG Rural USOF 150, the customer gets a download speed of up to 2 Mbps and is allowed 1 GB free usage per month, it added.
The government is making huge efforts to increase broadband penetration in the country, which stands at 9 million currently.
The customer would, however, have to pay telephone connection charges separately under both these plans.
The telco has also introduced combo plans for both landline and broadband together.
Under the combo category, BSNL offers plans exclusively for rural areas at Rs 250, Rs 550 and Rs 500 (unlimited plan).
Under all these plans, there are no charges for registration, modem, security deposit or installation, it added.
