Archos new 101 10-inch internet tablets is reportedly all set to hit retail stores. The Android-powered tablet offers 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 resolution display. The 12mm thick tablet weighs 480gm, which is lighter than iPad is 680gm in weight.
Other features include a webcam, email and chat applications, and 8 or 16GB flash memory. The tablet is powered by a ARM Cortex A8 CPU running at at 1GHz with DSP, and a 3D OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics accelerator.
The tablet features an adjustable leg stand for viewing. There’s also HD multimedia with music and video application adding 3D cover animation support.
Archos 101 comes with built-in HDMI connection (HDMI cable sold separately), a standard full-sized USB 2.0 port plus a USB host connector to directly transfer files without using a PC, and a Micro SD Slot (SDHC compatible), as well as WiFi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth 2.1 EDR.
The tablet’s battery life is claimed to be up to 36 hours. The tablet is expected to launch in Germany, France and UK.
