Google’s Messages app now supports Ultra HDR image format, allowing users to share Ultra HDR photos via RCS-enabled messaging. The app retains metadata and displays accurate colors and details on the receiver’s device. Ultra HDR is an improved version of JPEG format, offering better dynamic range and HDR data integration through metadata. It was introduced with Android 14 and integrated into Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones. While adoption with other OEMs is slow, Google Messages users can now share Ultra HDR images without issues.
