LONDON: German sportswear and equipment maker Adidas has taken its website content offline after suffering a 'sophisticated and criminal' cyber attack.

The company said it had no evidence that its consumers' data had been impacted, but that it was taking down the affected sites to protect visitors.

A statement from Adidas said that it discovered the incident on November 3, the BBC reports.

The firm said it had since put in place additional data security measures and had started to re-launch its websites.

"Nothing is more important to us than the privacy and security of our consumers' personal data," the company said in the statement.

"We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time," it added.
